International Gallerist Pearl Lam To Exhibit African Contemporary Artists At Art Cologne 2023
Pearl Lam is giving her patronage to African art by exhibiting only African contemporary artists at the oldest art fair in the world – Art Cologne – from 16th through November 19th.
Pearl Lam is a key figure in the contemporary #art world who is known for her role in breaking Chinese contemporary art onto the international scene and for taking international contemporary artists into China. Her patronage and endorsement of artists is closely followed by art collectors in China and in the West.
Pearl Lam has been scouting African art and artists throughout 2023, most recently in Lagos, Nigeria. At Art Cologne, Pearl Lam Galleries will showcase a diverse range of artistic practices and perspectives which offer a compelling exploration of contemporary #African art.
A longstanding proponent of cultural relativism, Pearl Lam hopes to foster cross-cultural dialogue and to shed light on the vibrant artistic landscape of the #African continent.
Pearl Lam says: “I am committed to promoting cultural exchange and fostering a deeper understanding of diverse artistic practices. By showcasing only African artists at Art Cologne, I hope to challenge preconceived notions and redefine the narrative surrounding African art. I am dedicated to nurturing talent and supporting artists from underrepresented regions.”
Pearl Lam Galleries will be located at Stand A125 at Art Cologne and will be exhibiting artists including Alimi Adewale (born 1974, Nigeria), Samson Akinnire (born 1986, Nigeria), Duke Asidere (born 1961, Nigeria), Isshaq Ismail (born 1989, Ghana), Rufus Ogundele (1946–1996, Nigeria), Babajide Olatunji (born 1989, Nigeria), Anya Paintsil (b.1993, Wales), and Deborah Segun (born 1994, Nigeria).
Pearl Lam is the founder of Pearl Lam Galleries. She is a gallerist, collector and patron with over 20 years of experience at the forefront of reimagining China’s cultural place in the world.

Pearl Lam is also an expert speaker who appears regularly on stage at conferences and who also shares insights in The Pearl Lam Podcast and as a Forbes Business Council member.
Art Cologne follows on from Pearl Lam exhibiting at The West Bund Art Fair in Shanghai from 9th to 12th November, where the diverse artists being exhibited reflect her longstanding mission to develop and promote cultural exchange between East Asia and the world.
Then from 17th November, Pearl Lam will present ‘Mr Doodle In Space’ in Hong Kong; a solo exhibition by British artist Sam Cox who is represented worldwide by Pearl Lam Galleries.
