Astrology determines every royals’ flower, as Leo’s dominate

Astrology determines every royals’ flower, as Leo’s dominate

With spring equinox rapidly approaching (March 20), the days are getting longer and brighter, with Cherry Blossoms already appearing nationwide.

To celebrate the change of seasons, OnBuy Greenhouses have dug deep into the world of astrology, as let’s be honest we’re all guilty of obsessively knowing what our star sign says about us. And the royal family are no exception! With Prince Edward and Princess Eugenie celebrating upcoming birthdays, OnBuy Greenhouses investigated which flower best represents every member of the royal family according to their star sign.

Queen Elizabeth the II, Taurus, Asiatic Lily

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the II was born 95 years ago on April 21st, making her a Taurus, according to the Zodiac calendar. Tauruses are known not only for their strength, but also their calm and serene nature, never causing anxiety or grief. With the Lily as their birth flower,  the Asiatic Lily would be a perfect fit for both the Queen and any Taurus. Asiatic Lilies grow firmly and strongly in sunlight and don’t need constant maintenance. Lilies have a full life and stay fresh looking for a very long time.

Prince Charles, Scorpio, Red Peony

The Queen’s son and heir to the throne, Prince Charles is a Scorpio, as he was born in November. Scorpios are more powerful than expected, with their hard-earned independence making them a force to be reckoned with. Having identified Geranium as their birth flower, OnBuy Greenhouses discovered Prince Charles’s perfect flower to be a Red Peony. They grow with speed and vigour in a defined direction, often standing tall above other flowers.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Cancer, Desdemona

As the future Queen Consort, and born in July, Prince Charles’s Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall is a Cancer. This sign embodies compassion and thoughtfulness to others, evidenced by her continued philanthropy. The birth flower for a Cancer is Delphinium (dolphin-shaped flowers, appropriate for a water sign!), with the best fitting delphinium being the ‘Desdemona’. It blooms to become a large layered white flower. And whilst  the process can be slow, patience is required, a fitting trait for Camilla.

Prince William, Gemini, Pink English Lavender

Third in line to the throne is Prince William whose star sign is a Gemini, having been born in June. Gemini’s sparkle under pressure, often described as the busiest and most hectic of all the star signs. The birth flower for a Gemini is Lavender, a beautiful tall flower with amazing fragrance. Suitably, the Pink English Lavender is the most apt flower for a Gemini and someone like Prince William. With the potential to grow up to 3 feet tall, this lavender grows at an impressive speed and is often seen covered from top to near bottom in vibrant pink/purple and white flowers.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Capricorn, Fama Pansy

Prince William’s wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, known colloquially as Kate, is under the zodiac  Capricorn with a birthday in January. Capricorn’s have an innate understanding of time, knowing that for relationships to grow, patience is needed. The birth flower for a Capricorn is the Pansy, a simple flower with the rare trait of being able to withstand the colder months. The ‘Fama’ family of pansies bloom slowly, but a calm maternalistic approach is rewarded with a gorgeous blue or white flower.

Prince Edward, Pisces, Arc en Ciel Water Lily

Another son of the Queen, Prince Edward was born on March 10th, making him the only Pisces on this list. A pisces is best represented by duality, and intelligence matched by a lack of self-confidence. The pisces birth flower is the Water Lily, and so OnBuy Greenhouses suggest  the Arc en Ciel Water Lily as a fitting flower for this water-born sign. Water lilies require a lot of attention to be absolutely perfect, however, when treated with care, water lilies can boast beautifully deep pink and purple flowers, making the wait worthwhile.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Capricorn, Viola Lavender

The second Capricorn in the royal family is Sophie, Countess of Wessex, with her birth flower a Pansy. The Countess is known to possess a self-starting attitude, as seen in her professional life outside of royalty. The Viola Lavender is best, as it’s gorgeous and comes in a wide range of colours. More importantly, it exudes confidence, flowering well into the start of winter. This lavender stands proudly, self-aware of it’s beauty, much like the Princess.

Princess Eugenie, Aries, Lonicera Japonica Honeysuckle

The youngest of the royals analysed is Princess Eugenie born on March 23rd, making her an Aries. Loving a challenge and competition, this dynamic sign is known for their ambition, exhibited by Eugenie who works in the competitive art industry, as an Associate Art Director in London. Honeysuckle is an Aries’ birth flower, and the Lonicera Japonica Honeysuckle represents Aries best. Thriving off direct sunlight, this vine flowers hundreds of times as it reproduces.

Prince Harry, Virgo, Matchstick Chrysanthemum

Our only Virgo on the list is Prince Harry who was born on September 15th, making his star sign a Virgo. Virgo’s are logical and systematic in how they approach tasks, all representative of Harry’s time as a helicopter pilot with the British Army. The birth flower of the Virgo sign is the Chrysanthemum, and a suitable flower to match Harry’s characteristics best would be the Matchstick. A garden classic, Matchsticks don’t require much attention to grow! Water whenever, as the Matchstick doesn’t suffer from overwatering rot, and forget about staking your flowers as Matchsticks don’t need it. Let this flower be independent, setting its own path to growth, just like a true Virgo.

Princesses Anne, Princess Beatrice and Meghan Duchess of Sussex, Leo, Helianthus Debilis, Sunflower

OnBuy Greenhouses discovered that Princess Anne, Princess Beatrice and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex are all Leo’s, characteristic of passion, loyalty, vibrancy and an honest energetic aura. All born in August, all three royals’ birth flower is the Sunflower, and specifically, the Helianthus Debilis would be the most fitting. Standing up to 3 metres tall, this flower is bright, captivating and can grow even in poor soil conditions, highlighting how these royals try and make every ‘bad’ situation into a positive one.
